My aspiration has always been to establish a significant change in people's lives; the more I acknowledge the number of people whose sacrifices have contributed to my success thus far, the more lives I am motivated to touch.  As a native African and devout feminist, I support the view that Education is Power. Although the female education status has generally improved in my own country, women and children in most parts of Asia and other areas are still subject to maternal and conjugal duties which then infringe their educational rights and hinder social and economic progression. That said, I want to further my education in order to encourage and promote female education worldwide, so that women can provide for their families, eliminate sole dependence on the patriarch as well as obtain a sense of dignity for themselves as opposed to succumbing to the stereotype that has for far too long declared that the male gender is more powerful.

I have witnessed and heard of several daunting cases of gender based violence, child abuse and many more interpersonal conflicts. As painful as the attempt to imagine the victim's feelings is in those cases, I strongly believe that society has focused on the victim for too long. Sigmund Freud, a great influence to psychology and psychoanalysis, and, hence, one of my role models, said that 'thought is action in rehearsal'. In most cases that I have looked into, I came to the conclusion that interpersonal conflict is usually a result of intrapersonal conflict; prevention is better than cure therefore the goal is to prevent affliction for which a cure can never be realised. If the potential assailant's mental state is ameliorated in good time, a large percentage of the interpersonal crises the world witnesses today could be stopped before occurrence.  This is why I am interested in psychology, because I believe that charity begins at home and that the home of change is the mind.

In conclusion, with regards to my plans for the future, I look forward to working for The United Nations Children's fund for a year or two before working towards my medical degree in order to specialize in Psychiatry, after which I hope to open rehabilitation facilities all over the world to get to the root of domestic conflict and a variety of other ordeals. Ultimately, I want to become an education donor in order to assist developing countries to implement sound education plans for both genders alike while being involved in relief projects for victims of natural disasters.
